12 Performances | 2 world premieres

After sold-out performances in February, BalletNext returns to New York Live Arts for a two-week season of rich and diverse repertory. Some of the season's main attractions include a world premiere by Michele Wiles set to a jazz score by master trumpet player/composer Tom Harrell and another Wiles premiere created in collaboration with one of the kings of flex dancing, Jay Donn. The Harrell piece will be played live by the Tom Harrell Quintet, which features himself on trumpet. Also on the boards are the New York premiere of Brian Reeder's "Strange Flowers," a trio set to music by Jean-Philipe Rameau and the return of "Surmisable Unites" for 6 dancers, two pianos, and one pianist also by Brian Reeder. All of the music will be played live.
